El Abandoned
Mycah W. Conrey

Refran: " Punishment is help, but why is the punishment is forever?"
Card Description: For my Loteria Card I wanted to share my thoughts on people who have done some of the worst crimes. I chose inmates who pretty much wont have another chance in life as a subject matter because I truly believe that for there could have been ways to prevent and ways to give them the help they need after the deed has been done. The colors in the piece represent the types of criminals and their mugshots. For me personally, this card represents those who have made a bad mistake and are not going to be able to recover. But I want the audience to see that they are in need of help and redemption.
Student Biography: Hi, my name is Mycah. I am a senior in high school, high school being Santa Maria High School. I live in Santa Maria California, at the moment of writing this I live with my mom, 4 little cousins, my aunt, and my uncle. What really inspired me to draw this loteria card is the lack of forgiveness and help in this day and age. However, there is a lot of it here in this world but its heavily counter-acted by cancel culture so. My intentions are to bring more light to forgiveness and better help. The artistic process was very turbulent since I really didn’t know what I was doing for most of the painting. So, I had a crude plan that I changed continuously throughout the art process. Life after school is to get certificates that would qualify me for jobs in computer technology since I like computers a lot. Other than my plans for the career, I want to see and feel new experiences, as much as the world has to offer within my life span. I also want to answer questions that confuse many for my and others satisfaction.
