Card Description: For my Loteria Card I wanted to share my thoughts on Christmas because it’s a day to spend time with your family and have a good time and make traditional food like Tamales, pozole, champurrado. I love how we have a Christmas tree and many presents under the tree because it’s like showing that we still believe in the Christmas spirit. Something that had me inspired to do Christmas as my loteria card is because when I was young my parents always showed me how they celebrated Christmas and how they reunited with their family to do all types of traditional food. I chose Christmas as a subject matter because I like how on Christmas you can put up a Christmas tree get presents under the tree and then open them midnight with all your family members and see what you get. I also chose this subject because you will have a great time on this day and will remember it for as long as you could. Red represents family love because that’s one of the most important things you need in life. For me personally, this card represents that Christmas is almost here and I’m super excited because we only get to feel this emotion only 1 time each year for this subject. Also, it’s just the vibe that you feel and know everyone is living the moment at its best because it’s a very special day. But I want the audience to see that Christmas is a very special day because all of the family comes together and have a great time and enjoy the food. Also, we will open up all the gifts we have under the Christmas tree and just enjoy the moment.

Student Biography: My name is Gabriel, and I am a senior at Santa Maria high school. I live in Santa Maria, California with parents and two older sisters. What inspired me to draw my loteria card was my mom because she was talking to me about all the fun stuff she did when she was younger. Yes, I do have personal experience with the subject because my family always celebrates Christmas. The process of doing this project was fun because I got to talk to my partners about what they were going to do and stuff and I just found this activity peaceful because I got to paint as well. My plans after high school is go to college or a university and major in mechanical engineering and try to reach my full potential that I don’t know I have.
