El Accidente
Moises Lira Cazares

Refran: "The accident passes by the careless and it does not discriminate"
Card Description: For my Loteria Card I wanted to share my thoughts on reckless driving and how much of an impact it has on people. Unfortunately, many car accidents lead to death and that's the real danger of reckless driving so for these reasons I want to raise awareness to the importance of avoiding driving reckless. I chose reckless driving as a subject matter because I believe that it’s important that we address how dangerous driving has become and the increase in car accidents due to reckless driving. So many people have become so reckless when driving if either because of alcoholism, road rage, and racing among other reasons. The colors in the piece represent the way I tried to make everything as realistic possible. The color represents the real representation of the objects. For me personally, this card represents how as a new driver I have realized the many dangers that comes with driving and the responsibility of it and how many people abuse their ability to drive by doing it recklessly. It can be scary knowing that although someone can be a good driver but still suffer a car accident because of another driver who didn't drive safe and it’s this thought that I find scary but nevertheless it should be talked about that it’s a social obligation to drive safe to prevent as many accidents as possible. But I want the audience to see that the real danger of reckless driving is the reality that it often to leads losing one’s own life or taking another life. I also think that although there are many laws that are strict about the safety or driving assuring they work comes down to us, so it’s very important that we together highlight and focus on driving safely so we don’t end up injured or worse.
Student Biography: Hi, my name is Moises and I am a senior at Santa Maria High School. I live in Santa Maria, California with my mom and my brother. What inspired me to draw my Loteria card was sharing my perspective on my theme and to demonstrate a visual representation of what often happens with reckless driving which hopefully highlights the reality of reckless driving. The artistic processes I had was long because I was often thinking of things to add and change but ultimately, I realized that as I went along, I kept wanting to change a lot but I couldn't I just had to accept it and in the end I had given it my all. Life for me after high school is to fully graduate and then go to Hancock and deciding if I need to continue perusing further a career or graduate with a bachelor’s and stopping their well at least that’s just what the plan for the moment is but am sure I’ll change my mind sooner or later.
