Student Biography: My name is Dayra Sierra and I’m from Santa Maria, California. I come from a family of four. I enjoy watching TV shows because it gives me a chance to escape from reality. I also enjoy listening to music, especially in different languages because it is like learning about a new culture. My plan after high school is to go to a four-year university and major in architecture and hopefully become an architect. If I don’t accomplish it, then I will probably find a new hobby or get a job. The message I’m trying to convey through my art is the importance of gender quality and promoting fair competition in the workplace for individuals no matter their gender. Women could be and are better than men because they have more passion and empathy to be able to prove that they also could be successful even in a women position. I want people to know that women shouldn’t receive less of the treatment man receive day to day because it wouldn’t make life easier for the new generation that’s to come soon. I want younger women to be able to showcase themselves through their hardworking skills rather than be looked down upon just because of their gender. Women now have more opportunity to advocate for a cause and not have to put up such stereotypes and to become role models, showing that if a man can do it, than a women could be it better.
