El chambeador
Rey Ortiz Aguilar

Refran: "The sunrise calls work to begin,
the sunset calls work to end."
Card Description: For my Loteria Card, I wanted to share my thoughts on appreciating all the farm workers' hard work while picking fruits/vegetables for us. I chose farmer workers as a subject matter because, in my community, we're surrounded by many agricultural fields, however, I feel that not many people see the impact that all of our farm workers have on us, and I believe that it's very important to show our gratitude to them. The color in the background is a sunset, which represents how most farm workers finish late at work, and most of the time the sun is setting. The image in the piece represents a strawberry with a bandana on its face and two shovels, one on each side, representing a person who works in the fields but mainly strawberry picking. For me personally, this card represents a few of my relatives who work in the field. I want the audience to see that it's important to show our gratitude towards farm workers because although their job might not be mentally hard, it is physically hard.
