Card Description: For my Loteria Card I wanted to share my thoughts on immigration. I chose as a subject matter because it sad to see the reality of how immigrated people has to go thought to have better life and achieve their dreams.  The colors in the piece represent happiness for I knew start in their life. The images in the piece represent how they have to cross to the other side to work and have a better life with their Families. For me personally, this card represents something sad because some of my family had to cross the border too.  I want the audience to see the reality of us Mexicans when we want to fulfill the American dream.

Student Biography: My name is Laura, and I am a senior at Santa Maria High School. I live in Santa Maria, California with my mom and my three siblings. My family is from Mexico, Oaxaca. In my Loteria card, I chose to represent about immigration. What inspired me to draw my Loteria card was my mom because she crosses the border to have I better life. The artistic process was very fun and relaxing. After high school I am planning to go to college, but I am not sure of what career to take but after I am sure that I am going straight to work.
