El gangster
Daisy A Medina Garcia

Grade: 12
Card Number: 40
Refran: "The gang member saying he is safe,
But in reality, his life can end."
Card Description: On my Lateria card I wanted to share my thoughts about thug life. Many gang members join the gang because of family or friends' peer pressure. I chose gangs as a subject matter because gangs engage in physical violence towards others. For me personally, this card represents all my family members being in the gang and always being drama. I want the Adience to see that not all gangsters are bad and can turn their life around.
Student Biography: My name is Daisy Medina Garcia, and I am a senior at Santa Maria High School. I live in Santa Maria, California but I was born in Freson, California and I live with my parents and siblings. I have 3 older brothers, 1 sister, and 1 younger brother. I'm the second baby out of my siblings. My parents are from Mexico. In my Loteria card, I chose to represent the gang life. What inspired me to draw my Loteria card was my family members because when they were young, they were about that life and some of them are still about that life. The artistic process was hard and easy at the same time because I wanted to do all my uncle tattoos but i couldn't because they were hard to draw since he has a lot. Life after high school will be much better and more blessings coming towards my way and towards my family & friends.
